Funding

We are pleased to announce, to those interested in the “Space of Synagogues” project, that thanks to the efforts of the Lviv City Council, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, the Center for Urban History, and donors from across the world, we were able to collect the full amount of money necessary to complete the first phase of the project.

Thank you and now we can move forward with optimism!

Now we can convincingly say that in September 2016, the conserved remains of the “Golden Rose” Synagogue, the demarcated territory of the House of Learning, and the memorial installation “Perpetuation” will open.

This new community space will become a place for honoring the victims of the Holocaust in Lviv—a place of dialogue between the past and the present.

However we still have much work ahead of us. The second phase of the project is slated to open in 2017; this phase will address the territory where the Great City Synagogue once stood. The forecast, overall budget for the second phase is more than €200,000. The majority of this budget will be financed by the Lviv City Council and other partner organizations. The rest we will continue to raise money for. We invite you to participate in the honoring of Jewish history in Lviv, which we feel is our common heritage and responsibility!
